Serious FUNdraising
Journal Communications has been a committed community partner of the United Way of Williamson County since our founding, and each year, our staff attempts to outdo itself – not only in the amount of money raised but also in the amount of fun we can have raising it. One year, we held a contest to see which employee could solicit the most donations in return for kissing a live pig. Another year, we held an online auction for spa treatments, Tennessee Titans football tickets, even an all-inclusive trip to Asheville, NC.
But in 2010, employees topped it all by hosting an afternoon of food, games and live entertainment in the courtyard of our office complex. Workers from several neighboring office buildings were invited to join us for Sonic hamburgers, hot dogs, sno-cones, baked goodies, games and music – with all proceeds benefiting United Way. We raised both money and awareness of the United Way’s programs and partner agencies.
