About Journal Communications
“When your company is founded by two Pulitzer Prize winners, it sets the bar pretty high!”
– Bob Schwartzman, President and Publisher, Journal Communications Inc.
Journal Communications Inc. was founded in 1988 by an investor group that included Pulitzer Prize winner Alex Haley, author of Roots, and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Robin Hood. Their commitment to excellence has been the foundation of our business, even leading to our company motto, “Find the good and praise it,” a phrase stamped on the bottom of Haley’s stationery.
While we began as a custom magazine company, JCI has evolved into a nationwide, full-service custom media company, helping our clients leverage the power of compelling content to market their message through a multitude of channels and platforms.
In addition to high-quality, ever-evolving print publications, Journal produces custom content for distribution online, through video and digital magazines, e-newsletters and social media – recognizing that to reach the target audience in today’s multimedia environment means going to where the audience is rather than waiting for them to come to you.
At the heart of our program is authentic content that resonates with readers. From print articles that point readers to more information online to video that brings online stories to life to a tablet version of our magazines for mobile readers – this connected, comprehensive content strategy enables our clients to communicate with their audiences whenever, wherever and however they choose to receive information.
